Once you start playing Mafia Wars, you will get addicted. The problem is your friends are going to start to get annoyed with you because of all the Mafia Wars requests you keep sending them. I know there are a few haters out there or those that just don't get how fun it is. Well here are some tips for growing your Mafia.

First of all, let me say it is really important that you keep your personal information safe. If you add someone as a friend that you do not know, you need to realize that they will have access to your profile until you delete them. I always go in an check my privacy settings if I am updating my profile. For instance many of you may not know that when you add yourself to a network, Facebook automatically defaults so your profile is visible to your entire network, not just your friends. That is something you have to manually change back to friends only.

The best thing to do before you add a bunch of people is to streamline your profile and hide stuff until you get your Mafia up to 501, than you can switch everything back. If you are new to Facebook, just wait to upload those personal pics of you drunk and passed out until your Mafia is built up. The advantage to Mafia Wars is that once someone has accepted a request to join your Mafia, you can delete them as a friend. Once someone has joined your Mafia, they will stay there even if they are no longer a friend of yours. The problem is that if you delete them as a friend you can not help with jobs or give and receive gifts with them. Another option is to have a profile on another service like MySpace just for friends and Facebook just for Mafia Wars. I am sure there are people who have multiple Facebook profiles just for playing games, but I am pretty sure that it is not acceptable according to Facebook.

OK, now that is out of the way, how do you grow your Mafia quickly? Right now I have over 1400 people in my Mafia and it is still growing. I managed most of this in about a week. The easiest way to quickly add Mafia members is to find an "email train". I did a Google search for "Facebook Mafia Wars email Add" and found a bunch of discussion groups with "add me" links. Try to find one with a list of email addresses of people who want play Mafia Wars. Here is a link to one I used. Copy the list of email addresses and go to Friends->Invite Friends on your Facebook page. Next in the To: box paste all the email addresses, add the message Mafia Wars. Hit invite. You will probably get an error message that your requests could not be sent. When you click on "why" it will tell you that the persons were already Facebook members and the requests were sent via Facebook.

By using the email list you can add a whole lot of people at one time. It takes forever to join a group and click on each person that is asking to be added. Now if you want, you can also join the group and add your email address to the chain. This way you will keep getting request from new people that join the group.

If you do not want to add all of these people as friends, save your Godfather points for extra family members. Save them as long as possible so you can get the most family members for your points. Right now at level 100 I can get 10 extra family members for my 20 Godfather points. You can also add me as a friend. I do not read anyones profile unless they ask me to and I will not be offended if you delete me as a friend after I join your Mafia. Have fun playing Mafia Wars!!!!
